This seems appropriate right now. Forget “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Straight Outta Compton” is the best music bio-pic of recent years. It’s the dark and gritty story of N.W.A. and police brutality in America. It won multiple awards and was nominated for Best Screenplay at the Oscars – and I do love a well-written movie.
The soundtrack is, of course, fantastic, the production is amazing and F. Gary Gray does a great job directing. But it’s the cast that really make it. Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E is scene-stealingly brilliant, Corey Hawkins is outstanding as Dr Dre, and Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr, is pitch-perfect playing his father.
